Jean-Sébastien Côté

composer + sound designer

Jean-Sébastien Côté is a Canadian composer and sound designer based in Ottawa. His work has been closely linked to the Canadian stage director Robert Lepage for the last 15 years; he has been the sound designer and / or composer for nearly all of Mr. Lepage theatrical work since 1999 such as 887Needles and OpiumThe Dragons’ Trilogy, The Far Side Of The Moon and The Andersen Project, amongst others. He also designed the sound effects for Lepage's staging of 1984 at London's Royal Opera House and at La Scala in Milan and composed the music for Eonnagata, the dance piece by Sylvie Guillem, Russell Maliphant and Robert Lepage. Over the years, he had the privilege to work with some of Canada's best theatre directors and choreographers such as Daniel Brooks, Wajdi Mouawad, François Girard and Melanie Demers.

In addition to his work for the stage, he also composed and mixed the music of many documentaries, tv ads, multimedia shows, art installations and VR experiences and has designed sound systems for both touring and permanent installations.
