Some updates for the 2011/12 season...

-Back to composing for dance with
Mélanie Demers / Mayday. She just finished some rehearsals on the new, yet untitled, piece in Italy and will continue this work throughout 2012. The fruit of this labour will be premiered in spring 2012.

-Juste before Christmas and until spring, you’ll be able to hear JSC’s sounds on the Émilie-Gamelin square for
Eclats de verre by Atomic3. Come and see the installation at the corner of Ste-Catherine and Berri in Montreal.

-
Croire au mal, by Jérémie Niel / Pétrus , will be the first « official » collaboration between JSC and Niel, but they previously worked together on Cendres and on the closing show of the OFFta 2011 featuring We Are Wolves. The piece will be presented at La Chapelle from Feb. 21st to March 3d.

-A few days later, it’s time to continue the work on
Cartes, the new theatrical adventure by Robert Lepage. The world premiere of the show will be in Madrid in May, but before that the people in Toronto can go see the Blue Dragon between the 10th of Jan. and 19th of Feb. at the Royal Alexandra.

-Finally, after planning the project for a year, the « real » work started on a new multimedia show that will premiere in June 2012 in Mont-Laurier. A mix of projections, lights, music and odours brought to you by Ambiance Design and Haute Voltige Laurentides. Jean-Sébastien takes care of the whole audio aspect of the project, composing the music and doing the sound design of the 45 minute presentation. More details here...

À toi / Cartes / La Tempête / Temps

After a long break in the news department, here’s a LOT of updates...

-Jean-Sébastien will be composing the music for À toi, pour toujours, ta Marie-Lou, presented at Théâtre du Nouveau Monde in May 2011. The production will be staged by Gill Champagne. For more information, click here.

-The first « proper » creation period for Robert Lepage’s new theatre show,
Cartes, was held last December at La Caserne, in Québec City. Interesting subject, spectacular set... very promising! The next creation period will also be in May.

-
La Tempête (The Tempest) by William Shakespeare will be presented this summer in Wendake, near Quebec City. Robert Lepage directs this play that is designed specially for the outside auditorium located on the reserve. This means it will be the only chance to catch that production...

-Jean-Sébastien will be leaving for Berlin in the next weeks to work on a new show by Wajdi Mouawad called
TEMPS (Time). The play is a creation made for the Théâtre du Trident’s 40th anniversary and it will be presented there from March 8 to April 2, but it will also take the stage in Ottawa and Montréal.

Eonnagata in Berlin and Châlons

Eonnagata’s team is back to work; the production will be presented in Berlin from Nov. 12 to Nov. 15 at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele and will then move to Châlons-en-Champagne for a few days of fine-tuning, followed by three shows on Nov. 26,27 and 28. Jean-Sébastien Côté will be back behind the mixing board for this run.

The Aleph in Toronto

The Aleph, a new play based on Jorge Luis Borges’s short tory, will be presented in Toronto in the winter of 2010 by the company Soulpepper.
Written and played by
Diego Matamoros, this production gives Jean-Sébastien the opportunity to work with stage director Daniel Brooks and designer Michael Levine.

A rehearsal period is currenlty going on until the end of October.
